Question:

Will McCain's choice alienate the all-important Catholic vote?

Sarah Palin was baptized and raised Catholic. At the age of 12 she was REbaptized by the local Assembly of God. This creates a problem. The act of rebaptizing implies that the original baptism is considered invalid.

The Catholic Church holds that there is only ONE Baptism. When they accept converts from Protestant denominations, they do not rebaptize.

Sarah Palin is an adherent of an anti-Catholic denomination. This will not please Catholics. Keep in mind, also, that Joe Biden is a Catholic!

  1. Many Catholics are pro life.  Biden is pro choice.  Soooo, what do you think now.

  2. The Palin choice was meant to retain the religous right and send the DNC chasing its tail around trivial issues as the GOP once again gets the focus off the issues that actually affect the US and the issues that they are failing to take care of.

  3. Nope.  Catholics are still pro-life.  That hasnt changed.

And how Biden can be a TRUE Catholic and be pro-choice is beyond me.  The two don't mix...its like oil and water.

  4. I don't think so, she still holds Catholic and Christian ideals on abortion.

  5. Catholics do not support Abortion, they denounced him the second day of his Vp, Biden is all for abortion!

The Cath. made it very clear they will have nothing to do with him. learn your facts!

  6. No candidate is perfect, but I think McCain/Palin's platform is much more in keeping with Catholic thinking than Obama/Biden. They have my vote.

  7. Palin is a flip-flopper, but Catholics offer their votes to the highest bidder.

  8. As Truth B. Told wrote, "Not this Catholic." Biden's abortion record is far more alienating.

  9. Not this Catholic.

Infanticide alienates Catholics and most other folks with consciouses.

  10. Yes, Sarah Palin has rejected Catholicism. At least she's done so openly and honestly. Meanwhile, she is still in line with much of Catholic teaching.

Joe Biden rejects Catholicism in a subversive manner. He runs around saying he's Catholic and producing a rosary out of his pocket whenever questioned about it, but he holds singularly anti-Catholic views, particularly on issues of abortion and euthanasia.

But really, I'm not looking at religious affiliation when I'm casting my vote. I vote on ISSUES, like, you know, the war, the economy...

  11. I don't see an issue.

She didn't have a choice regarding her baptism as a Catholic. And, even at 12, the change in church was likely also by her parents' choice.

So, some churches do things differently than Catholics. Big deal. Same Bible, same Lord.
