Question:

Will McCain's health care plan cover the uninsured?

I know Obama is endorsing a plan that will cover the people that need insurance when they can't get it (the sick). McCain is offering a $4000 tax credit for health insurance. What if you have no income? Will you be insured? What if you have a pre-existing condition that makes it impossible to find coverage?

  1. McCain will not socialize healthcare. We already have a Medicaid plan for those with no/low income. Personally I agree with McCain's plan. Socialized healthcare would be a disaster.

  2. The number quoted by Obama is 47 million uninsured.  Neither Obama or McCain want to insure illegal aliens.  That brings it to 37 million Americans that are uninsured.  Now 17 million more make $50,000 or more.  That $4,000 would insure them.  That makes it 20 million left.  So right there, McCain would be cutting the number by more than half.

Here is my plan to finish off the remaining 20 million:

Half of those uninsured are uninsured for under a year and with an increase in unemployment insurance, it can be cut to 10 million Americans.   Kaiser Permanente is offering  zero deductible insurance for $3,000 a year.  That's $30 billion a year.  The only cost would be a slight increase in unemployment insurance.  In May of 2008 there was 154.5 million workers 16 and over in the U.S. That averages $195 per worker per year to cover those 10 million that are out of work for a year.

That leaves 10 million still uninsured for a year or more.    If farm subsidies (which mostly go to rich farm companies, and deemed illegal by the WTO) are eliminated to help pay for it, then it goes down to $13 billion.  That $13 billion could come from the $408 billion in Medicare (2009 budget).  This won't really affect the expense of Medicare because is use to already pay for the uninsured.  Also the those that have insurance spend half the money on Medicare that the uninsured do.

  3. The US private healthcare system is the biggest joke on earth, and giving tax credits to individuals to "buy" healthcare is pretty much just a government transfer payment to the bloated healthcare insurance industry.

America should stand up to corporate welfare the way they complain about social welfare.

  4. There should be a health plan that covers people that are diagnosed with serious illness.

I have cancer and have to work in order to buy my insurance.  I worry about what will happen when I can not work, I know Medicare and Medicaid take a long time to get, and you get turned down often.

  5. I do NOT know ... I do NOT CARE !!

What ever happened to taking "personal responsibility" ?

It is NOT the responsiblity of the hardworking taxpayers to finance a Socialist / Communist / Liberal / Marxist Government Hand-Out Program that the government is "supposed" to "manage" - - destined for failure like Social Security and Medicare / Medicaid.

I have NOTHING against helping the elderly and the young.

I DO have a problem SUPPORTING the able-bodied people that do NOT want to get off of their butts and EARN an honest living - instead of "FEEDING" off of hard working citizens.

AND they teach their children, and their children's children HOW to FEED off of government programs !!

Just realize ... that those of us that ACTUALLY have to work for a living, are getting tired of PAYING for the Democrats idea of HELPING.

Shouldn't MANDATORY Urine Tests be REQUIRED of people that are requesting "government handouts"?

IF you are on LEGAL prescription drugs, then you will not have a problem proving it !!

IF YOU had spent years getting a PhD and then the government TELLS you that your ability to make a really good living is being taken away, WHAT would YOU do ?? Probably the same thing that a lot of medical professional would do ... change careers !!! With that kind of education, WHO wants to be told that your income is limited and you have to SEE a hundred people a day and you cannot provide quality care because you are rushed???

Would Universal HealthCare end up being like our Social Security system - THAT ELECTED POLITICIANS ARE NOT A PART OF, BECAUSE THEY HAVE AND SUPPORT their own Retirement system - -

    - the Congressional Retirement and Staffing Plan?

SO, WHY would they WANT to FIX a government program that THEY are NOT REQUIRED to participate in?
