No US President sucks up to anybody. The Saudi dynasty is not the worst trading and political partner in the Middle East. Israel is the one and only democracy in the Middle East, while Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt and the small Gulf States are reasonably OK.

There is a long standing, mutually beneficial relationship between the United States and the House of Saud.  As long as the US is dependent on foreign oil, and Saudi Arabia feels the need for military protection to maintain the monarchy, the relationship will endure.
