Will Microsoft repair a Xbox 360 console without a warranty?

I got a Xbox 360 off of eBay, thinking I could fix it. I couldn't. Can I send it in to Microsoft and have them fix it, presumably for a fee?

  1. $99 to $150, depending on the problem.

  2. Microsoft WILL repair your xbox 360 console for free, IF it is registered to you and only for RROD problem. Please note that they will not fix it if you have voided warranty by opening it up.

  3. yes they will. but you got to make sure your name is who its registered to. i need to send my xbox in but because i bought it off someone and they registered it to him, so i cant even send it in.

  4. Because the warranty sticker has been removed Microsoft will not fix it.

  5. Hi Evan,

Yes if you send it to Microsoft they will fix it for you however it will cost you about $140, this is depending on what error it is as sometimes it can cost more.

    Hope this helps!

  6. of course they can fix it.. it just costs money like $100 i believe

  7. Yeah they charge $140 to repair Xbox 360's that are not under warranty but I don't think it's worth it because I've sent mine in twice and it always ends up breaking again. I finally got sick of it and found a good repair manual for like $23 and my 360 has been working fine ever since. The problem lies within the crappy solder joints holding the GPU and CPU to the motherboard. So when the 360 starts over heating the solder joints break because there is not enough pressure holding them down. Don't listen to all these other guys telling you to buy theses kind of guides because they have never opened an xbox 360 in their life. What you need to do once you open it is you need to take off the X clamps which are 2 metal X's under the motherboard then you unscrew the CPU and GPU heatsinks and add some new thermal paste. After that you s***w in the CPU and GPU heatsinks back on with some screws and nylon washers making sure the heatsinks sit flush with the motherboard. For more directions and video's you can get a quality guide from the website below. I used the $23 guide and it worked great. My Xbox 360 has been running solid for about 4 months now. Good luck and I hope you get it fixed.

  8. Hey man save yourself $150 and get a repair guide

Every Xbox 360 owner is going to eventually need one.

I did some research for you and I did find a site that does some xbox 360 repair guide reviews. I would recommend that no one try's those repairs that are on youtube. So I guess visit the source and let me know how it went.
