Will Miguel Cotto brawl with Antonio Margarito or box him?

Cotto has the tendency to get hit a lot.  Margarito loves to brawl.  I dont think Cotto will have a choice.  Should be a great fight.  I look for Cotto to try and out box him in the first few rounds, but after he takes a bunch of punches, he's going to want to start throwing bombs.  Cotto in 9.

From start to finish, Both are going to fire at will till one strikes dead center. Pure offense on this fight.

This one is hard to call but I think Margo has the bigger arsenal.

I see Cotto trying to box in the first couple of rounds, but Margarito will stalk him and eventually get the fight to the close distance that he prefers.  Cotto will settle into that by Round 5 and Margarito will have him where he wants him.  Margarito can take Cotto's punch, but the reverse is not true.  My feeling is Margarito by late round stoppage (10, 11) or by decision without any controversy.

Im going to throw some names out there. Clottey beat Margo the first 4 to 5 rounds and injured his hand. Clottey defense is better than Cotto and has better boxing skills than Cotto. The differents between Cotto and Clottey, Cotto deosn't have a L and Clottey been in there with Margo. Clottey jabed Margo, showed good defense, put combos off of his defense, effective jab, body punches and new when to open up off his defense. Williams beat Margo because he throws alot of punches, good chin, start fast, use his leg movement to the best to his hight advantage, good stamina and can box. Williams won the first 5 to 6 rounds but margo started comming back late rounds and cutting the ring off. It was to late for Margo to make a come back. Williams had a effective jab and snap Margo head back. Cotto is not a pure boxer but is learning to box as he goes. Willams was taller, had the reach advantage and has a high work rate. What makes Margo more of a problem, he's talking about using his reach and hight advantage in this match. If Margo does that, Cotto will be force to brawl. Margo has a 74 reach and Cotto has a 68 to 69 reach. If Cotto try to box but cant get pass the long arms, than he will have to get inside and Margo would love that tipe of fight. Can Cotto keep up with a high work rate fighter. Mosley was able to hit Cotto when every he wanted. Cotto gets hit to much, get winded in hard fights that he's getting the same that he's giving. Cotto never hurt Mosley but was buzz a couple time by Mosley. When your plan doesn't work, can you adjust? Cotto camp is working on his condition. Can Cotto stamina hold up? Mayweather has the stamina, Mental game, 100% boxing skill, ring movemant, head movement, smarts and has 11 12 round fights. Mayweather has the skills that Cotto need to beat a brawler like Margo. Not saying Cotto still cant win but he will be batter after the fight if he wins. Mayweather has fought brawlers most of his career. Cotto has only 4 12round fights. Winky has 14 12 round fights. those guy's are use to going the distance and have no problem doing it effectively.

Cotto will have to box in order to survive the fight... if Cotto tries and brawl with Margarito it will be over very early so i think you will see Cotto fight much like Quintanna did against Williams and try and catch Tony with a straight when he comes in then hold or move.... the only other way is to counter in between punches because Margarito is not going to throw one punch at a time and will put constant pressure on the smaller Cotto.... Cotto has a good jab but he is not long enough or throws enough punches to keep Margarito at bay for more than 3 rounds... I picture Cotto taking the same approach as Quintanna, and really the only approach , in order to beat Margarito.... Cotto has a great amateur background and will try and use that to his advantage against Margarito, who basically has none because he turned pro at like 15 .... So a brawl would only be an advantage for Margarito.... Cotto will have to fight smart and not get drawn into a brawl when he gets hit with big punches, once again like Quintanna did with Williams...Also Cotto does not throw a bunch of punches a round like Tony so trying to Brawl or basically match punches with him will tire Cotto out and make it that much easier for Cotto to get hit....lets not forget Margaritos Chin is legendary whereas Cottos is questionable, so a decision is really what Cotto is training for rather than the Knockout... in saying this i thought quintanna had no chance against williams either but i still see Margarito Knocking out Cotto inside 10 rounds ......... but you never know

Cotto can box given the level of his opponent,but  were talking about a guy that Floyd Mayweather would have problems outboxing. If you ever seen John Mugabi vs Marvin Haglar that fight was a fight when too guys that really fought the same way met. Mugabi brawled and boxed at certain times same thing with Haglar and Duran he brawled and boxed at certain times. I think Cotto is going to have to brawl when Margartio wants to box and box when Margartio wants to brawl. He is also going to have to work his Jab and sharp-in up his defense or bob and weave his head because he gets hit far too much too too too much. Cotto is in a situation were he is going to face a guy that he cant hurt and that's really been his bread and butter his whole career. The fact that he could hit guys and make them run but now what does he do when the hits a guy and he keeps coming? One thing about boxing is you cant become the Top dog being one dimensional and this fight is going to prove that if he can change or is he just a motorcycle (only goes forward). One big problem i see is Cotto trying to box and then getting cracked and starting a brawl which is going to be a horrible mistake but would make for a great fight. I TELL YOU THIS MUCH IF FLOYD DOESN'T FIGHT THE WINNER OF THIS HE ISN'T THE TOP WELTERWEIGHT. Little bit of both. Cotto is the smarter fighter and more technical. Margarito has a great chin and we have seen that but i think the bigger question is how well can Margarito take it to the body since we know Cotto is one of the best body punchers of boxing. I see Cotto winning a decision.

cotto is a very smart boxer,  i think he will try to stick and move since he is the better boxer . if cotto cant stop margaritos relentless attack then he might have  no choice but to braw.this fight can go 50/50

Early in the fight I believe that Cotto will box more than brawl.  He will be smart enough to pick his spots when to come inside and brawl.  I pick Cotto by decision in a great fight.
