  1. Nowadays it is up to the HOF. I agree that it should be as a Met. He may have become a star with the Dodgers, but he was a superstar with the Mets. He made his only World Series with them, he hit most of his home runs with them, and he was the unquestioned #1 star of the team with them.

  2. As a Met, remember he was on the Padres and he hit 2 HRs at Shea, the fans gave him a standing ovation. Then he flew out to the wall and the Mets won.

  3. Since it is up to the Hall you never can tell but I would think that since he had more success with them than any other team he should go in with the Mets but never underestimate his week with the Marlins!

  4. I agree with you.  He won a NL Pennant as a Met and reached several milestones as a catcher while with the Mets.

  5. Dodger

  6. a met

    more memorable moments

  7. Mike Piazza spent parts of 7 seasons with the Dodgers.  he won the Rookie of the year award, finished in the top ten in MVP voting 5 times, top five in MVP voting 3 times (twice finishing second), won 6 Silver Slugger awards, and was a 6 time All-Star.  he hit 177 of his career HR's with them.  he batted .300 or better every full year that he spent in LA.  His best season was 1997, when he went .362/40/124.

He spent parts of 8 seasons with the Mets.  He finished in the top ten in MVP voting twice, top five in MVP voting once (3rd in '00), won 5 silver slugger awards, and was a 7 time All-Star.  he hit 222 of his career HR's with them.  he batted .300 or better 3 times while in NY.  His best season in NY was 1999, when he went .303/40/124.

Plusses and minuses for both sides.  Very hard to determine which is his "primary" team.  However, I think the X-factor will be his postseason play, where he led the Mets to a heartbreaking 1999 NLCS loss, and a 2000 World Series appearance.  His two playoff appearances with the Dodgers ended in first round exits.

  8. Yea!! What Rich said!!

  9. I'm hoping the Mets, i know that much.

I think he was more vital to the Mets, but he also put up better numbers on the Dodgers.

  10. Or at all?

  11. My guess is that it will be as a Met. That is where he had hihs most productive years and, as you said, he was part of a championship team in New York.

  12. he should enter as a met.
