Will Mollies eat vegetables?

hey, its me. I have 3 mollies in a 2.5 gallon tank (yes i know they need a bigger tank but the person at the pet store said they would be fine and they have been ever since i got them) and i just am wondering if the would like to at anything different for once like some vegetables. To make them extra healthy. Is this true? Ty

For them to be extra healthy they do need a much larger tank. They sould also have a little salt in their water. In the wild mollies do eat algae as well as some animal protein so it would not be a bad ides to give them some blanched green vegetable once in a while. do not keep it in the tank more than an hour or so as it will pollute the already overcrowded tank very fast. Until you can get a larger tank (which I hope is very soon) I recommend you doing a one gallon water change every other day. After all how would you like to live in a small room without a toilet?

Mine eat boiled peas.. and cucumber.

Yes, take frozen peas, and boil one. After it is done, peal the shell of the pea away and let them have at the meat of it. They love that, and it's very healthy. Take what's left out after about five minutes. Cucumber seems to work well, make sure that it's soft enough for them to take bites off of though.

Your Molly will accept both flake and live foods. A flake food diet should ideally be combined with live food, such as blackworms, bloodworms, grindal worms, fruit flies and brine shrimp. Vegetable matter must be included in the diet. If there are algae growing in the aquarium, the Molly will obtain vegetable matter by eating algae. If there is not a lot of algae for the Molly to eat, you can supplement with Spirulina based flakes or ordinary vegetables such as boiled peas.

Livebearers generely won't eat veggies. They may nibble at it at first, but they'll just ignore it. It'll just rot and leave the tank dirty. I wouldn't do it!
