My boyfriend and I are taking a trip to Montreal this weekend, Saturday night and Sunday night, leaving Monday. We can't make it Friday. Is the city / bars / night life still alive on a Sunday night in Montreal? What can we expect? We've never been there. Are there any places we need to see? Thanks!

  1. Montreal's night life is ALWAYS alive.

  2. Yes, don't worry.

  3. Montreal is an incredible city, one of my favorites. I lived there for 2 years as a student. It will definietly be alive, as montreal is every night.

Saturday night, walk down St. Catherine street, its great. St. Laurent and Crescent are known as the party streets, but there are really cool bars and clubs everywhere in the downtown area. Downtown there is pretty much just 3 streets you need to know. Sherbrooke, the most northern, de Maisonneuve, the middle, and St. Catherine at the bottom. Everything is a grid, and the metro can get you basically anywhere you want to go. Old Montreal is beautiful, as is the Park Mount Royal. Sherbrooke in between Claremont and the library in Westmount is pretty with cute shops and cafes. If you have a car (or even if you dont) you should up to westmount and see the multi-million dollar homes and the views they have. It's pretty cool. Expect a lot of French (everyone pretty much speaks english also). If you have bad weather, you can check out the underground city, a series of shopping malls and tunnels and such that connects a good portion of the downtown core. Eat as much as you possibly can in Montreal. The food is fantastic. Poutine is the "local delicacy" and you should try one if you happen to see La Belle Province. You wont be disappointed. Bring with you or get while you're there a mini map of downtown, (mapquest will suffice) so that you will always know which direction to head in. Enjoy!

  4. For sure! I was walking downtown yesterday (Tuesday) and it was packed

  5. all the stores close at five but restaurants, bars, and theatres stay open late.
