Will Mourinho sign one more defender?
The Spanish Giants Real Madrid recently signed the young centre back Raphael Varane from the French club Lens. Even though Varane is only 19 years old, the Los Blancos needed a centre back who could replace Ricardo Carvalho on the pitch as the 33 year old
cannot perform throughout the season.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Real-c30728 Madrid had a great squad throughout the previous season of the Spanish La Liga but what they really suffered from was poor defence. With Sergio Ramos coming back from a FIFA World Cup campaign, it was hard for him to play throughout the season and the
former Chelsea centre back Ricardo Carvalho could not play throughout the season as well. With these defensive crises, Mourinho had to rely on Raul Albiol and Alvaro Arbeloa – who are not even close to the class of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Ramos-c33096 or Ricardo Carvalho.
The former Chelsea boss relies too much on his team’s defence and it could clearly be seen during his time at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 and Ricardo Carvalho; Inter Milan were playing
with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maicon-c23157.
Now with Varane in the Madrid squad, Mourinho now has some depth in the back four. The Los Blancos now have a suitable replacement for Ricardo Carvalho in the form of either http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Albiol or even Sergio Ramos who can operate well in the centre back position.
Varane can also fill in the gap left by either Pepe or Carvalho while they are on a rest or they are suspended.
Last season http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604; however, Jose Mourinho now has enough players to play in the midfield so Pepe will be playing in his favourite centre back position.
Currently, Real Madrid have enough players to play in the centre back position – Sergio Ramos, Pepe, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Álvaro-Arbeloa-c5282 and Sergio Ramos can play in the right back position. What Mourinho’s side really lacks
at the moment is a left back.
The Brazilian full back Marcelo is the only “weak link” for the Los Blancos. Even though Marcelo has improved since the time he was under Jose http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Pellegrini, he still needs to improve his defensive technique. Marcelo is outstanding while moving up the
flank and aiding the team in attack but when he is required to tackle and defend, he is not the best man for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684.
Last season Alvaro Arbeloa played in the left back position whenever http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 failed to impress. Arbeloa got the job done for the Los Blancos but with him being naturally right footed it was hard for him to cope up. Therefore, Jose Mourinho really needs to
sign a left back at the moment.
The Portuguese tactician has made a lot of signings already – http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hamit-Altintop-c15652, Raphael Varane and Jose Callejon. However, none of these players can replace the Brazilian full back Marcelo.
Jose Mourinho has been after the Portuguese full back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Coentrao for quite some time now and he might be on his way to Real Madrid as well. Is Mourinho ready to cash in on Coentrao at the moment? He really needs a left back who is not only good while
moving up the flank to help the team in attack but also exceptional in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Defence-c38904.
Fabio Coentrao is going to be the best signing for Real Madrid during this transfer window. However, it is still pending and it depends how much price his club, Benfica asks for him.
