Question:

Will My Car Battery Die in This Case (Two Weeks of Shipping Involved)?

I left town for six months leaving my car in self-storage. I came back six days ago, and the battery was dead. I jump started my car and charged it up pretty well so that now it starts every time I turn the ignition on. However, I am shipping my car from CA to DC in a few days and that'll take about two weeks - do you think my car will still start after about two weeks of inactivity? The battery is about 2-3 years old, by the way.

Thank you!

  1. Your battery charge should last that long,as long as it isn't powering anything in the car(take leads off).

  2. just disconnect one of the leads and connect it when you get it and it should still start after two weeks.

  3. Usually a battery that dies from sitting like yours did will not revive, I am amazed that yours did but I doubt if if it will hold a charge for two weeks during shipping.

If you want to make sure you have no problems in DC I would change out the battery now, 2 or 3 years old is not a bad time to change a battery.

It is a little early in regular circumstances but in this case I would say you got the good out of it.

    Good Luck!
