I noticed Nadal is playing doubles in Monte Carlo. Will he earn points to add to his ranking? Also, is it normal for someone to play doubles and then play a singles match in the same day? Won't it affect how you play?

  1. no

  2. hes a sports men, it wont affect him too much. a lot of them do it, even federer in some tournaments.  he will only get doubles rankings points not singles. hes playing now! just taken the second 6-1 to equalise.

  3. he will earn points for the atp doubles race... he also pla doubles in other tournaments if you've noticed... singles and doubles same day... uhmm, after either of the two the tournaments of course will give him suitable time to rest before his next match..

  4. If he wins it will increase his doubles ranking but not his singles ranking points if that was what you meant.

  5. The points he gets for playing doubles will affect his doubles ranking ONLY, not his singles.

A lot of players have played the "daily-double", so to speak. It may tire him a little but he's so fit that it shouldn't be a huge problem for him.

  6. He'll earn ranking points for the doubles race only along with his partner.  And he wouldn't play doubles if he wasn't feeling healthy enough to do both, so he must be up for the challenge.

  7. If he wins matches then sure it will add to his points and affect his doubles ranking. Yes, it is normal for someone to play a doubles match and a singles match in the same day. Forget that, there have been players who've had to play 2 singles match in the same day due to rain delays and such. It will affect you if the match before was tiring.
