Will Nigel Twiston-Davies win another Grade 1 contest?
Nigel Twiston-Davies has definitely been one of the finest trainers of all time and he has earned some memorable victories throughout his career. However, things have not been working out well for him in bigger events, which is not a positive sign for him.
He will definitely need to break the shackles soon otherwise his career might come to an end.
The veteran trainer has been serving the sport for quite some time and he is a multiple Grade 1 winner. He does not have a lot to prove, but he would like to be winning major events as long as he is taking part in them actively.
He started off his career more than a couple of decades ago and he was quite promising back then. There was no doubt over his talent and he worked hard in order to make a name for himself in the sport.
The Brit brought up his first important victory in the Tripleprint Feltham Novices' Chase Grade 1 with Dakyns Boy, who had a successful career, spanning almost eight years. He managed to win quite a few events during that time period, but lost the winning
touch towards the final half of his career.
This was just a start for Twiston-Davies, as he aimed to win more important events over the years. He kept on working hard and the positive results came for him with the passage of time.
He has trained a lot of successful stallions and has the ability to do so in the coming years as well. However, it will be important for him to end the victory drought in Grade 1 races. His most recent success at this level came in the Betfair Chase (Registered
As The Lancashire Chase) in November 2010.
It has been two years now since Twiston-Davies prevailed at the highest level. His victory came with Imperial Commander, who enjoyed a very good time throughout his career, but is probably too old now and might be headed towards retirement soon.
Therefore, his trainer will need to look for younger stallions, who will be able to give him Grade 1 victories in the future.
