I have a diastasis (causing back pain) and lots of extra skin after having twins a year ago. Will OHIP cover a tummy tuck?

  1. Officially, a tummy tuck is considered "cosmetic".  However in some cases in "can be" covered.  What your doctor needs to do is prove to OHIP that your tummy tuck is medically necessary.  He/she will have to full out a prior approval form and submit it to OHIP to be considered for it to be covered.

This is the same for people who have had drastic weight loss and have excess skin as a result.

    (congrats on your twins btw)

  2. Ask your doctor. Circumstances may impact when it's not just cosmetic. The doc has to make the submission.

  3. You need to ask them. Every case is different.
