Will Old School Long Boarding Ever Make A Comeback?

You know, standing in a pose riding all the way in? Or is hot dogging the only way to go no?.

I learned to surf in the 60's and miss the old style.

  1. in my world it has baby lol. but yea who cares if it comes back or not depending on what type of person u r. cauwa bunga dude lmao

  2. it is still cool and yes to ur question

  3. Never died. Competitive surfing leans towards the most extreme and exciting... most people still longboard.

  4. Longboarding is still alive. It's the foundation for surfing. It will never die. I am a 14 yearold and i like the 60's longboard surf style vibe, my friends liekmthe rocker punk side of surf. LOngboarding is greatt i have friends that do it.

  5. I don't think it's dead.  In fact if you watch a long board contest even the guys who are more "new school" still do a lot of old school maneuvers.

Even though my longboard is more of a new school shape I prefer the fluidity of old school moves as opposed to trying throw my board around like its a short board.  Still can't do a drop knee turn though :-(

  6. I live in Hawaii, I surf both South and North shore on longboards. I have about 6 different boards for different riding styles ranging from a 7'6" gun for bigger days, to a 10' board single fin.  I love "The Cat" moves from the 60s and do those types of moves On small days on the south shore, AND on 3'-5' (hawaiian) up at Lani's on the Nprth shore.  so yes lonboards are not just for "ankle snappers" watch a video of some of the 12' guns used at Waimea Bay.  Typically I go out on a solid 5' day up North with a 9'0 riding the nose into some of the most dramatic waves (and wipeouts) you can imagine!

  7. Longboarding is NOT only for small waves unless you are a shortboarder who can't surf small waves. Especially in Hawaii, take a look at Bonga, Joey + friends, they are out at Pipe on their longboards when most of your shortboarders are too scared to even sit on the sand and watch.

  8. It is still alive and going, I know the people I surf with still do it. Longboarding is still alive.

  9. good surfing is always in style
