Will Pakistan show confidence on Mohammad http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-c64444 again? Opinion
The two-match T20 series between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 starts today at Bangalore, with both the teams looking to take an early advantage in the battle of nerves. The home team have a massive edge over the visitors in the batting department
in the presence of some mega stars, having the ability to change the course of a game single-handedly.
In order to counter the threat posed by the home team’s batsmen, the selection committee of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), headed by the former left-arm spinner, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Asad-Ali-c46178, Zulfiqar
Babar and the lanky left-arm fast bowler from Gaggu Mandi, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Irfan-c76983. All of them are yet to play T20 cricket for their country.
The latter made his way to international cricket in 2010, having impressed the authorities by his ability to extract maximum bounce from pitches due to his extra-ordinary height. Irfan was drafted in the country’s limited-over squad
during the tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675, who was suspended to play competitive cricket because of his involvement in the spot-fixing controversy.
The left-armer made his debut at Chester-le-Street with a massive reputation; however, Irfan failed to make an impression in international cricket in the two One Day Internationals he played against the Poms.
The 30-year-old cricketer however, has performed quite well in the on-going domestic season in Pakistan, picking up 27 victims in just eight first-class matches, regaining the confidence of the national selectors, who have picked him
in the T20 squad. According to many former cricketers and analysts, Irfan has improved a lot since getting dropped from the national side a couple of years ago.
While speaking to Pakpassion earlier this month, the tall cricketer expressed that he failed to impress on his debut because of nerves and poor fitness; however, he claims to be more confident this time around and said that he is keen
to grab the opportunity with both hands.
“I was put under tremendous pressure in that game as I was flown in and then asked to play at short notice. I was suffering from jetlag and had fitness issues, and of course I was also nervous,” he said. “I don’t feel any tension or
pressure as this time around, I feel much better prepared and I am joining the team on the back of some good performances.”
Irfan further added that he has done his home work to be successful against the Men in Blue and is taking the two T20s as a chance to find a permanent spot in the national team, with the Green Shirts scheduled to visit http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757
early next year, where the pitches will suit the left-armer because of his height.
The talented pacer expressed, “I have got hold of some videos of Indian batsmen. This is a big opportunity for me and I hope I can contribute and become a regular member of the team.”
In the presence of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Junaid-Khan-c77037 and Asad Ali, it remains to be seen if Irfan gets an opportunity to showcase his skills or not, with the team management still having bad memories of Irfan’s lacklustre international
debut. However, one thing is for sure that the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Multan-c819 Tigers’ fast bowler has the ability to trouble any batting line-up with accuracy and additional bounce.
