Will Palin's interference with public safety and the ethics investigation against her hurt the GOP?

Troopergate. According to MSNBC, "Palin is under investigation to determine whether she pressured and then fired the state police chief in July because he refused to dismiss her former brother-in-law."

She is trying to run on the idea that she is an a reformer, but she is under an Ethics investigation. How is this defendable? State govenors do not involve themselves in this kind of micromanagment, so any excuse about the firing being part of her duties as governor seems invalid.

If this story hits the MSM, all the ugly details will also come out, including the misdeeds of her brother-in-law.  The governor's efforts to protect her community from someone who she knew to be a menace will distract attention from the fact that a decent public servant was lost in the shuffle.  I don't think it will hurt the ticket.  

In fact, I think it's dangerous to try to attack Palin on anything but her far-right policies. That her teenage daughter is pregnant, that her husband got a DWI two decades ago, or that her sister married a degenerate just show that she is a middle American.

People are tired of politicians who abuse power and have scandal around them.  SHe comes in from nowhere a complete unknowen and she has al this baggage coming in the door.  Only the least intelligent or most hateful voters would be attraced to her as a serious candidate.
