Will Palin's speech attract or deter undecided voters?

There really is no in between. You either loved it or hated it.

I thought it was a rather divisive speech and the attacks touting herself as so much more experienced than Obama could be a big turn off for some people.

Do you think it swayed any undecided voters either way?

  1. I'm STILL undecided and waiting to hear about issues!

What I liked about the speech was that it was well-written and well-delivered. The woman has a knack for public speaking.  Well, her degree in journalism has something to do with that.

I also liked that she didn't talk about her daughter's pregnancy because it has nothing to do with how well she could do a job as VP....in my opinion.

What I didn't like was her attacks on Obama.  Had she not attacked him at all and risen above that tactic, the reps would have had my vote.

Now I'm waiting for the debates when maybe? I'll get to hear about issues other than energy.  ALL the issues.

  2. She may be able to deliver a good speech and get the Republicans all excited (and ready to toss their Cowboy Hats into the air!) but I completely distrust the woman.

Sneaky, Sly, Brought the whole messed up family of hers out to the rally today for appearances, Cleverly Covered up her views on controversial topics and avoided REAL Issues Americans need to deal with !

Obama's got what it takes - just because he's a new player in the White House doesn't make him wet behind the ears

  3. Her speech will attract a lot of undecided voters and former Hillary supporters.

  4. The mainstream media keeps treating Palin in such a condescending way. Voters are watching: even the ones still wearing pantsuits.

  5. It sounds like you've been listening to the media if you think she was attacking too much. She was entertaining and witty, but not a pushover. She seemed like someone people can really relate to. I've talked to people who were on the fence and they absolutely loved her.

You mention healthcare ... we don't have a healthcare system. We have a sickness care system where people are taking way too many medications that do nothing to address the underlying problems, but in actuality CAUSE more sickness. According to the World Health Organization, the United States ranks 1st in how much money we spend on healthcare, yet we rank 72nd for "level of health." There are poverty stricken countries who have healthier citizens than we do.

So don't go getting your hopes up about some savior politician to cure our poor system of healthcare. People have to take a proactive role in their health by informing themselves and not just doing what their doctor says. You have a brain ... use it!

  6. What, attacking your political opponents policy and experience is mean and divisive? When did that become a crime. Wow.

  7. Bottom line, we're a divided country with very divisive views.  How could our politics not reflect that, and that doesn't mean that our elected officials cannot learn to compromise certain issues to accomplish the appropriate goals.  Though I have to disagree that this was a divisive speech in any manner!  What she did was attack Obama's experience.  He's running for President, that's expected, allowed and encouraged.  We SHOULD question our potential Leaders!

She does have more executive experience that Obama, what else could you expect from a Lady who is the most popular Governor in the country, yet had taken a beating regarding her own ability?  She has every right, and honestly a duty to point out to voters that she has stood up and made tough decisions, she has taken on popular, powerful officials because it's the right thing to do.  Obama has consistently avoided taking any stand since reaching elected office, just so he wouldn't have to defend unpopular choices when he ran for President.  Sarah never imagined running for President, she has been acting on her conscience.  That certainly should/will sway undecided voters!

  8. I think most of them will now vote for the McCain Ticket!  Palin is AWESOME!   She BURNED Obama!

Just wait!  In a few days McCain will Lead in the polls by like 10!   No problem!

Far lefts are scared that is why they are attacking her, she is a threat to them cause she has MORE EXPERIENCE than Obama their Presidential Candidate even.

  9. She did not sway me she kind of turned me off.  A little too sarcastic.

  10. I agree.  You either hated it or loved it.  I think most undecided voters are going to sit out a little longer and watch what happens.  There are still way too many unanswered questions about all the candidates.

  11. She may have experience as any person with a family , but she did not say what other  then bash Obama

She is not getting my vote

  12. It could attract some undecided voters.  I don't think many voters are swayed in the voting booth by one speech.  Most political speeches are enjoyed by persons with the same political thinking.  Sort of like preachng to the choir.

  13. Depends on if they were looking at her or actually listening to what she said.  She is a fresh face, not much else.  I have read her stances.  She is pretty conservative other than on a few points.  Her economics match the Republicans, so she lost me.

  14. How could you not love her? :)

Sarah Palin is beautiful, confident, CONSERVATIVE, and smart!  I love her!

  15. I'm a Hillary supporter who was impressed by Palin.  I haven't been happy at all with the Republicans after the disaster that has been George W. Bush, but I've also been unhappy with the uber-left Obama-Biden ticket.  Since I have more moderate political views, and since George W. Bush will be out of the way (thank god) I am locked into going with the moderate Republican in McCain.

Having a female in Palin on the ticket has made my decision easier, and although I don't like some of her politics - which I view as simply pandering to the conservative base of the Republican Party - at the same time, my impression is that Palin seems to possess many of the fighting qualities that Hillary had, which puts me at ease.  It's obvious that Palin will start to detail her plans more specifically as we move through the campaign, so for now, I'm not too worried about that part.  If she was continuously vague through to election day though, then I might be worried!

  16. She has definitely attracted moderates and undecideds. This is clear from the response by the mainstream media. I'm grateful McCain chose a Washington outsider to initiate some reform in Washington politics and someone who is more likely to represent my moderate views and lifestyle

  17. I think if someone wanted to be swayed, that would do it.  But I think for the voters who vote on issues and not rhetoric, it would do nothing for them.

  18. yep. the oldies won't need viagra anymore LOL....as for her intelligence....she's not very bright

  19. 50/50. It will attract some-turn others away. Its not cut and dry for either way.

  20. i thought it was a good speech and confirmed much of what i already new about her.  I am still having problems voting for mccain, but the idea that palin is just a heart beat away gives memore reason to vote for him.

  21. I watched her speech and I thought she was terrible. I understand that there has to be some mudslinging but some policy would be nice too., I don't think the words health care came out of her mouth. God help us all if she becomes the president. She would be worse than BUSH!!!!

  22. Since you have already decided long before she spoke.

I think that the undecided will swing to McCain because on average people tend to vote conservative and now that you have the most liberal ticket possible offer by the D.N.C. more will go to McCain.

  23. There arent any undecided voters. Everyone with a brain is voting for Obama.

  24. I am an Independent for Obama, she got the conservatives going but not the independents because she is too extreme

  25. How in the world could she "address everyday issues" within the time she was given.

My question to you is that ... what part of Zero do you not understand?  What part of incompetency do you not understand?

back to your question:  Do you think it swayed any undecided votes?  Yes I do... In fact look at the media coverage today... CNN news coverage has been toned down.

Palin is  a threat to the good ole boy politics.  Even the good ole boy Republicans are going to have to sit up and change some of their ways too.

Sarah Palin, I don't think is perfect, but she is a breath of fresh air to politics as we all know..

  26. It was a great speech made by Sen Palin but it was purely based about character and biography.

Not once did you nor I here about them talking about the economy and about taxes.

It was more about how to fill your car with cheap gas rather than sending your children to college for less money.

  27. My husband is leaning towards Obama and I am leaning towards McCain. We do not vote based on a good speech. We want to see the candidates debate real issues.

  28. The media is working for her.

People love her. We (women) can relate to her.

    Men think she's hot.

And people are starting to feel bad for her because of the media treatment she's getting.

    She is definately attracting voters!

  29. Any voter who is still undecided at this point is either lying in the hopes that someone panders to them, or should have their voting rights taken away due to lack of intelligence.

  30. i absolutly loved it, finally the republicans fight back they spoke the truth

  31. Changed my mind. I am a democrat that will not vote for Obama primarily because of the slander and filthy attacks on her by my own party and the media.
