Question:

Will People ever Stop Driving And Talking On Their Cell Phones?

I'm a Fedex Courier and our Company Policy is if a member of management sees you driving and talking at the same time you are written up the first time and fired the second time. No third chances because this is very dangerous! I've seen a person get hit while crossing the x-walk and someone didn't see them because they were talking on their cell phone. When will people wake up? The goal in driving is to get their safely. Think about it.

It would be great if cell phones didn't work while the car is in motion.

  1. Cell phones are the worst invention of all time.

  2. Thats like asking will people stop drinking and driving. Yes it is dangerous everyone knows this it is common knowledge; yet people still do it.

  3. I just saw an AOL "test" to determine your "real" age. I was surprised that it didn't ask about smoking but even more surprised that it did ask if you talked on a cell while driving....but it does make good sense.

But I think it'll be a while till people finally get the message, if they ever do. No one ever thinks it can happen to them and maybe that's good or no one would ever get out of bed in the morning.

I look at it this way sometimes....it thins the herd of the idiots and their genes don't get passed down;) What's really sad is the people they take with them :=(

  4. Whenever I see a driver do something absent-minded while behind the wheel, when I pull up along side of them, invariably they're on their cellphone. Can't wait till July 1st and the hands-free law.

  5. I whole heartedly agree with you. When I drove and had a cell phone I turned it off when I got in the car. I will not talk to my sister on her cell phone if she is driving. It is dangerous. I've seen bad things happen too because people were driving and talking and weren't paying attention. People in Calif better stop July 1 because unless it's handsfree it's the law.

By the way, while we're at it, people should also stop doing the following while driving:

Eating things that require both hands, a fork or spoon

    Reaching in the backseat

Brushing their teeth (I've seen it)

    Putting makeup on

Polishing off a can of soda (thus tilting the head back)

Using a urinal (honest, I've seen it)

    Fixing their hair

    No?

  6. No, because they believe that nothing will happen to them, like a lot of people.  I have even seen real estate agents (signs on the car doors) reading paperwork while driving.  In Virginia, you must pull over to the side of the road to talk on a cell phone, otherwise they will get a citation.  If other States followed their lead, maybe there wouldn't be as many accidents.

  7. I'm guilty.....however I did pull into a parking lot once just to use my phone and some guy yelled at me to get off my phone and quit taking up parking places!  Some GPS Systems are distracting as well, and then there's all the other things like battery razors, I-Pods that plug into your car.....people in cars are suppose to have total concentration on driving, I drive for a living...I see it all....like people with their pets on their laps behind a steering wheel, driving with their knees, using both feet at the same time( one on the brake, one on the gas) the list could go on and on......but, I agree with you people should wake up.

  8. The issue is getting adressed more & more.  Give it time ...

  9. not a bad idea at all..the problem is of course that anyone else in the car i.e. passengers wouldn't be able to use their phones either :)

i think the poster above is correct in that this issue will be addressed in time.
