Will Puerto Rico break the ice in third week of 2011 FIVB World League?
The 2011 FIVB World League is set to enter the third week on Friday, June 10. After the successful two-week game, teams are pretty much enjoying the right form to display a great game in third week. In Pool A, Puerto Rico is scheduled to take on Poland.
The Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan, Puerto Rico is ready to host the much-awaited match. Puerto Rico has not been able to conquer any team in the competition. The home crowd didn’t get a chance to celebrate the victory of their team.
In the first week of the tournament, they were put up with the tough Brazilian team. Two matches were played between Brazil and Puerto Rico. Both of them ended in the favour of Brazil, while Puerto Rican team had to regret about the loss. In the second week,
Puerto Rico received two consecutive defeats from United States.
However, the upcoming match against Poland would be a perfect opportunity for them to break the ice. Puerto Rican side will be equipped with the stupendous support of local fans. Moreover, they are enjoying a good form and this has to be their moment to
grab success.
The head coach of Puerto Rican Team, Carlos Cardona is very optimistic that third week will bring a new fate for his team. At the same time, he does not overlook the opponents.
He stated, “I am expecting two complicated matches. Poland has a long volleyball tradition and they have a great technical staff. They are preparing for the final at home. We have improved since the first weekend and playing against a team with less experience
than the other two (Brazil and United States) I feel optimistic about our chances.”
Hector Picky Soto, the captain of Puerto Rican Team will be the main weapon for his team.
He said, “We have been upgrading our level and improving in some areas for this weekend when we will be trying to get our first victory. Maybe we can take advantage of our experience against a good but young Polish team.”
Taking a look at the other side, Poland is a strong team. Final round of the tournament will be played in Polish city Gdansk and that is why Poland is already confirmed for the final phase of the tournament. Poland has the top-scorer of the last two week
in the form of Kurek Batosz.
The Polish mentor, Andrea Anastasi is also very confident, especially after playing against Brazil in during the last week. He is satisfied with the attitude of his young team-line. Anastasi is so sure that his crew will dominate the opponents in both matches.
