I was watching the 08' final and i noticed how Jon McEnroe said that if Rafa wins then he might become World No.1 but im comfused because he is around 900 points in the ATP ranking away from Federer...

If you know much about this please inform me.

  1. i am sure he would be no. 1 by next year

  2. No not yet. Roger is still the number 1 player by having 6600 points. Rafa has 6055 points by winning the wimbledon title. Nadal can be the #1 if he wins both the Roger's Masters and Cincinnati.

  3. No Rafa doesn't have enough points to take no. 1 I think he can do it! He just needs to keep winning and rack up more points.

  4. No, Rafa will not be No. 1. I believe he will decrease the gap between him and Federer to 575 points. I think what John meant is that Rafa will be No. 1 to tennis fans, etc. because he basically dethroned Federer, and because his winnings has made him the best player on the tour. I think it's just a matter of time and few championships until Rafa is No. 1. Hopefully by the end of the year! :)
