  1. If your a true fan and you believe in him then he will, but if you think like everyone else and basically don't want him to be his original self and make room for their favorite players, then he never will. I personally think Roger is already working himself back into form and he's playing better and better, Roger is still very young, he's just 26 and he could play for another good ten years, because he keeps himself into great shape. Fed may be down now but he's not even close to being done with the sport of tennis, call it just a funny feeling.

  2. He's fine. Others are getting better.

  3. nohe is past his prime

  4. yes

His  poor  run  in 2008(by his standards)  will  make  him a  stronger and a better player

  5. No - not at all. The way he is playing he still has it in him but the

mental toughness is lost. He will never be able to regain and it

is very very hard. As much as I love for him to stay longer and

play longer, I believe this is the start to the end of the finale.

He will win few more tournaments and even a grand slam, but

winning French is almost impossible with the kind of game plan

    he has.

Players used to go out there and play against him thinking to

only avoid the bagel on score cards, but now the same players

think they can knock him off in tough sets.

I still think he will #1 this year, but will have to hand over to

    the Serb, Djokovic next year.

  6. He should. He's only 26, so he's got plenty of time. Not sure what his problem is but he's been on poor form all year so far. Doesn't help that he started his attempt to get back on track just as the clay season started. At least he has won a tournament. Granted it wasn't a top-level event, but it should give him a little confidence. He did give Rafa a decent fight in Monte Carlo. Hopefully the grass season will breath a little life into him. Hard to say how long he'll keep the top spot but he should still be able to bag some more Slams.

  7. this is a very good article i can agree with. the writer even mentioned the mononucleosis as a handicap in matches early this year, but this is the only point i don't fully agree.

do the comparison with Mario Ancic and Justine Henin. both of them also suffered from mononucleosis and both were away from tournaments for several months. not so Roger.

    what was his intention?

the answer is pretty simple: defending his #1 spot. well knowing of his handicap (but he never spoke about) he thought - it's better to play with a handicap than stay away completely. if he had abandoned like Henin and Ancic, he would have lost the #1 within 2 to 3 months for sure.

so his record streak as #1 increased to 224 weeks and still counting. the earliest date he can loose his #1 spot is on June 16 (but only if the absolute worst case should happen).

i don't think he will get back his status of the last 2 years, but the better he can recover from his illness, the better his chances are to win the one or other tournament.

tennis or xno1rafafanx was already here. both of them are complete tennis illiterates but it doesn't bother me anymore.

  8. Roger Federer has been #1 for four years, but he is beginning to slow down. He was recently beaten by an unseeded player in the BNL d'italia clay event (Rome). He was almost beaten by Serbian player Janko Tipsarevic, and he has also been beaten by Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal on several occasions. This goes to show that the #1 spot is up for grabs and Roger is slowing down.

  9. Unfortunately I think we may have seen the peak of Roger Federer.  That's not to say that he won't still win a bunch of tournaments and probably surpass Sampras as the all time grand slam winner.  However, he's already reached his peak physically and there are several young bucks (Rafa and Djokovic) gunning for him.  He will still go down in history as the greatest player we've ever seen.  Not to mention one of the classiest champions in any sport.

  10. well to answer your question...roger is back to playing as how he did during his superb run in 2006/2007...problem is the rest of the herd is closing in on him...

fedex did the unthinkable when he dominated the world of tennis for 4 years running...wiping the floor with the players during that era...

as fedex had set the precedent...the other new players in the scene had no choice but to follow that precendent to stand a chance...hence the emergence of players with the caliber of nadal and djokovic...

in my humble opinion...it seems like fedex has lost his drive to win tournaments...he doesnt seem to be giving his all...he seems to lately been losing his cool as well...

as a fedex fan and wanting to see him break the tennis records...cmon fedex...

  11. No, but he is still the man to beat.

  12. He will definitely get better, and only time will tell if he will get back to his original status. He will have to work hard to keep his position and he is one person who can do unimaginable things, so I would not bet against him. Go Rogi !

  13. no he wont dominate like he did for the previous four years but expect him to win slams for the next few years.

  14. It seems impossible that he can continue to dominate everyone. There are too many other players who go all out to improve. They are catching him. It happen at some point.

  15. Yes, Roger will get better, he is only 26 and he intends to play for 10 more years.  Other guys are also getting better though, so you can't say that he will defeat them all again.

He will remain at number one!

  16. i think so.. but he have a bad start this year.. up to now!
