Russia has been threatening Poland for about 2 or 3 days now. Will Russia try to invade Poland? And remember Russia will have to cross over different countries to get to Poland.

  1. Russia won't stop invading ex Soviet bloc countries until they have them all.

  2. There is a more urgent question: will we (U.S.) invade Iran?

  3. I seriously doubt it. I really really seriously doubt it. Russia just flat out doesn't have that bad of a justified reason nor the financial ability to do it

  4. Have to laugh at Condi being ignored by Russia.   Oh yeah

  5. No, they will threaten to nuke the US and Israel and other convenient targets, though.  Actually, Poland getting nukes is kinda a given that Russia was putting off for their national honor (reverse Cuban missile crisis) but they have taken a huge loss in national honor when they gave up the control of the Soviet Union and a lot of the government core supporters are nationalist extremists who are old dudes who cannot forget when they could call the shots or at least be heard.  We let them fall pretty hard in our jubilation over the fall of the Soviet Union and now we reap the harvest from it - they will be like Pakistan for decades: balancing on the razors edge of extremism some key party members are threatening civil war for, or moving in the present.  It has not helped at all that our current president has no diplimatic finesse at all - there are ways to manage people and he is just not able to do it.

  6. I think Russia would love to attack not necessarily Poland herself, but the missle defence system whenever it's in place.  I think this would be a small air strike as opposed to ground forces/protracted conflict.

Passing through Ukraine would not be a good idea, but Belarus would likely allow it.

  7. Yes they will and they know the USA will only jawbone about it. Look at Iraq. We can't even win there and they are not a super power.

  8. No. Poland is a member of NATO, which means that any attack on Poland (or any other NATO country) will be interpreted as an attack on all of them. Thus, World War Three. I don't think either Putin or Medvedev is willing to risk that. Besides, They'd have to go through Belarus and/or Ukraine before getting the bulk of their army through to Poland. (the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad is on the Polish border but it isn't very big.)

  9. I would say no because:

    1. Poland is part of NATO....Russia doesnt want war with the combined might of North America and Europe which would be WW3

    2. It would have to go through Ukraine....and Ukraine has nukes that = Nuclear war....

    3. The world would not stand for that..

    but hey you never know....
