Will S-Video be obsolete in the near future?

With the fast uprising high-definition connections such as Component and HDMI, how much longer will cables such as Composite and S-Video stick around?

Also, is there a large difference between the quality in Composite and S-Video? What do you think?

  1. holy h**l what a spamming loser

and to answer the question yes more than likely we already see products with only HDMI cable inputs i'd say probably in the next 5-10 yrs probably less

  2. All analogue connections will die off as analogue devices dies off. The difference between composite and S-video is that S-Video uses a system called Y/C component video which basically keeps the chromicance and luminance of the video signal separate whereas the composite is exactly that - acombination of all the elements.

S-Video is definitely better, but only with recordings that were made using S-Video signal encoding. Otherwise it's no different.
