  1. The god concept should be but is not obsolete. Creationist or evolutionist. Theist or atheist. One will eventually prove the other to be INCREDIBLY wrong. I'm with atheism.

  2. It already has.  The assertion (above) that science provides plenty of evidence for god is simply wrong: it provides no such evidence whatever.

  3. You still live in a modern world-- where science reigned. Grow up! We're in the postmodern world now-- where experience reigns!

  4. Belief fills an emotional need not a need for knowledge. That's why they don't listen to all our reasoning and facts. When science can make people that everything will be alright for ever and like they're somehow special and better and important then people will begin to abandon their silly beliefs.

  5. It has already.

But ppl who will not look at the facts, can not be helped & remain religious.

  6. no. God reserves that which is holy unto Himself. there will always be a remnant. for all your 'knowledge' you'll lack wisdom if there is no fear of God in you.

  7. i suppose it already has, but there are still thing ppl dont know, so they afiliate to god cause they dont know how else something could be

  8. Are you for real? while science may help you for the 80-100yrs.while you are on this temporary plane of existence. That is if you don't have a heart attack tonight, or get meningitis tomorrow or have some loon blow your head off at a shopping mall, or any number of a zillion other things. What the h**l can science do for you while your cooking like a two cent weenie for zillions x zillions x zillions plus yrs.???????????

  9. uh... sorry there sparky, but science (if one looks at it rationally) has already prroved God.

the end is near atheists, prepare yourselves.

  10. No, people are too stupid.

  11. it depends on who you talk to.

The people who believe in God will always question how things came to be before the "Big Bang." and the odds of everything appearing on our planet ...

Then there are the Science geeks like me ...

  12. Science hasn't explained ultimate causes, defined a moral and a worthwhile life.

Science has told us that we are made up of mainly empty space.  That our universe is basically empty and the matter that we are made of only consists of 4% of the universe.

All that is true, but how do you create an existence from that?  Obviously,  part of the answers for consciousness and a civil life come from spirituality and religion.

  13. There's never been any prove that a god exists with our without science. So i don't think it's going away anytime soon.

  14. There will always be a portion of people that will refuse to open their eyes and look at the facts. As long as there are gullible people there will be religions.

  15. no becuase there are things tht are just unexplainable, even if we deny then, i dont have any religiuos beliefes but you do have to look at some situations tht dont seem to make sense

  16. I think science provides plenty of evidence for God.

  17. Hah i agree with the first poster, there will always be people that believe in god or some other divine being

  18. No, because there will always be idiots in the world.

  19. Belief in any god is unnecessary to survival. However, there will always be people who believe in god(s).

  20. no i will never stop believing no matter what science has to say, there would be no science with out God for he created us all

  21. By rights, god should be obsolete.

The trouble is, his believers keep moving the goalposts- fist he's up the mountain, so we climb the mountain, so suddenly he's in the sky, so we build flying machines. So he's 'above' the sky. We get into space, so mysteriously he moves to somewhere we'll never find him.

A similar things' going on with creationism at the moment- there are a hard core believing that it all happened in seven days, but most christians are in the "seven days is a metaphore & the order of events is almost right..." camp.

Give it time & the metaphore camp will win the day, so we'll all need someting else to argue about.

  22. I think for some it will.  I believe that the belief in "God" originated from the inability to explain things that happened in nature or the world.  As science gives reasons for these things people will not need to invent an otherworldly reason for them.

I do not think however that science will be able to explain things fully enough that all people will give up belief in God.

    Try reading The God Theory

  23. Absolutely not.  In fact, the head of the human genome project actually wrote a book on how science has reaffirmedd his belief in God.  Einstien professed a belief in God and the after life.

  24. Nah nutters will still believe what they want no matter what the evidence in front of them .

  25. That depends on your opinion. Free will or not, Thats a choice that you can make.

  26. better catch up on your reading friend, science is about to plateau, then where will your faith be.

  27. No.

    It will never.

Because, religion is there for many reason. One of those reasons being to answer the questions we cannot answer.

And most scientists admit that there are things we will never know.

  28. It did decades ago. It's just that there are a lot of stubborn, not-very-bright people around who refuse to acknowledge it.

  29. slimshad, your remark mostly included yourself.

God will never go away.  He loves you too much.

  30. I agree with Slimshady.  People are too blind to see any different.  It makes them feel better to blame their issues on another thing

  31. Why does it have to be so black and white? IMO science is a tool for understanding God, the universe and the world around us.
