It may seem like I'm digressing, please bear with me.

Do you think that someday science will find a way to travel faster than the speed of light?

  1. I'm not sure where your going with this.

We are on the fringe of knowledge so travelling faster than the speed of light cannot be entirely ruled out.

To travel faster than light is impossible in accordance with the laws of physics as we now understand them.

  2. Maybe!? They said it would be impossible to travel faster than the speed of sound but we did it. Now many say it is impossible to travel faster than the speed of light.

Also it is good to remember that the military is always at least 20 years ahead of the public. SO who knows maybe they are already traveling at those speeds.

  3. No, but we will be able to get places faster than light speed, because we will learn how to bend space and time.

  4. Maybe but If it is discovered then it would be impossible for a person to travel with such a high speed. If he does so he would die .

  5. Maybe bending space, but traveling faster than light is impossible

  6. Extremely low probability for anything living to survive if they did.  Sending objects into black holes, theoretically would achieve faster than light speed.  But the physics past the event horizon goes nuts.

I suppose the equivalent question would be:  Will scientists ever achieve absolute zero?

  7. c'mon. ....We know where you are going with this.

I agree with you 100% though.

  8. I would say; 'NO'. All the faster than light theories I have seen involve wormholes. Which in essence involve leaving our space-time continuum once exited, what guarantee is there that you can re-enter back to our space-time?

  9. It is not possible to travel faster than the speed of light according to einstein.  It is the "speed limit of the universe."  As things gain speed their mass also increases.  I heard it is theoretically possible to bend space like they believe a wormhole does.

  10. It's not likely, but who knows? With the advancements that we have now, they could.

  11. they already have!!!!!! their lies travel so fast u have no idea! u dont even notice!!

  12. In a relativistic 3d universe, nope, but.....in a quantum universe, about anything is possible.

  13. Absolutely not.  It's a physical impossibility to go faster than light.

The speed of light is an absolute, a barrier that can never be exceeded.

Only in Star Trek is this possible.

  14. Absolutely!  As we all know, light speed's too slow.  Prepare ship for ludicrous speed!  Cancel the 3-ring circus.  Secure all animals in the zoo...

  15. It seems to me man is only limited by his own imagination. We are not gods, but we were formed in the image of God.

  16. Ninety three million miles in ~ 9 minutes. Assomov,Bradbury, and Clark would have a hard time with that one. Easier way is to check your local UV indexes. They change very frequently all over the globe. You got to know what SPF to use.

  17. the problem is as you approach the speed of light, your mass increases towards infinity, and you need an infinite amount of energy to accelerate an infinite mass...

we have no infinite sources of energy...

  18. "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable

    from magic. "  -  Arthur C. Clarke

I believe some day we will be able to travel to distant stars.  I think it will be possible, some day, not soon, but some day.

  19. no because even if we did no one would live to tell. but then agian they did say travle to the moon was impossible.......

  20. Judging by how often I am taken by surprise by my bladder nowadays, I would say if science could harness it up, surpassing the speed of light should be no problem.

  21. "Ever" can be a long time.  Perhaps in a hundred thousand years or sooner we may figure out a way.  As something approaches the speed of light, apparently time slows down making it theoretically impossible to be faster than the speed of light.  That being said, there are things that are faster and it is possible that as someone suggested, they may figure out ways around it, such as worm holes.

  22. you will never SEE it if they do.
