Shaq didn't promise a championship last season but he did make a promise but he didn't say last season. As a Suns fan I hope the Suns win their first NBA title in 2009.

His NBA career is coming to an end and any promises he makes now are  going to bounce like a bad check. One of the all time greatest but he is way past being dominant and the league is no longer a game which is built around their centers.

When I heard about the trade, I was astounded. Suns gave up a lot for big guy in the middle. Amare is big guy able to run the floor like a guard and will now probably slide down to PF alongside Shaq in C, that takes away the speed in all 5 positions that the Suns transitional game revolved around. No surprise to me that they struggled to gel after the trade.

I think the rest of the team will have to adjust more around Shaq for the trade to work. If the Suns can optimize a similar game like Stockton - Malone Utah Jazz, then the Suns will likely be in the Finals.
