Will Shawn Johnson get a Gold Medal on the beam?

I am rooting for her all the way!!!!! GO SHAWN!!!! If there's a personality award, she would have 100000000000000000000 Golds.

But just watch Shawn Johnson's Day 1 Olympic trials on the beam, she's AMAZING! She has 3 back flips in less than 1.5 seconds on a beam shorter in length than she is tall.

She can make the gold, can't she?

I hope she can. But she has to beat Nastia, the Chinese gymnasts, as well as the Chinese judges. It's tough, but I hope she does it. She really worked hard for it.

Too bad she didn't make it. The 12 year old chinese girl got it. She is really good for her age.

The judges don't have to be chinese. But if they are clearly biased towards the chinese, it makes no difference.

I really hope she can win it. Nastia has got one gold and hope she will got one too. But she need to perform better than the qualification because she only managed to qualify third behind Shanshan Li of china and Nastia.

I think she could win the gold on the balance beam but If Nastia is going to be in this event they will be pretty close to finishing 1&2

I think she has a good shot, just like everything else she has competed in.

But Nastia Luikin is a lot more graceful and fluid on the beam...something that seems to score more points this year.

I think she has a great chance.  From what i've seen, the other competition including the chinese are rather weak on the beam.  Her balance is great.

There's another Romanian who could beat her on the beam. Nastia Valeryevna  isn't so great on it but she has the advantage of a signature move and high difficulty.

  Johnson is short and compact and that's an advantage, she could win if she sets her mind to go for the gold. Lots of Americans have been going for the bronze instead, happy to just get a medal, Liukin didn't even mind being beaten on the bars

Considering how many times the judges were shown on TV, and how they are subject to oversight from the top judges who can order them to review video, comments about Chinese judges are ridiculous. The olympics have never had home-court judges, they're always international.

I am pulling for her.  It must be really difficult to have had her score hold up through all the other competitors during the floor exercise finals and then be beaten by the final athlete.  I do think the Romanian athlete deserved the gold, however, I was disappointed when Shawn didn't get it.  As for the beam finals, she has some stiff competition including Nastia Liukin.  I hope they go 1/2 again, except this time Johnson takes the gold.  Liukin already pulled out the ultimate result with the all around.

It looks like Shawn Johnson is still America's sweetheart though.  Her personality is amazing.  Many other athletes can learn how to conduct themselves in the midst of adversity from this 16-year old!  She's always smiling and waving to the camera, no matter what the result.

I think she deserved that Gold Medal last night. She shouldn't have gotten silver but that Romanian was good too.

Sadly, the Olympics don't throw pizza parties and such, they just take lots of pictures and give her money. lol
