  1. It will depend on how he starts.  Hard Spun starts strong and has amazing endurance, but Street Sense had to be held back, he just wants to run his heart out and it may well be an asset for the Preakness.  Can't wait to see the Preakness.  It's so exciting, what a race!  At least the juvenile jinx is broken....don't you think?  What a great race!

  2. The Preakness is a shorter track, so that Street Sense will have to do even better against Hard Spun.

  3. He's got a great shot if Calvin is lucky enough to get the rail again.  Calvin's got some guts...  i feel like any other jockey would be too afraid of getting stuck to take the horse over there.

Knowing our recent history and luck with the Triple Crown, Street Sense will probably win the Preakness then get beat by a nonsense horse like Imawildandcrazyguy in the Belmont...  something that's never won a decent race ever before.

I'd love to see a Triple Crown winner...  I'd feel bad about not backing him though...  i mean if the horse is that good, I'd like to think I'd notice it...  How would you like to be that guy who bet against Secretariat?  ;o)

  4. With the way he ran today, it's too hard to predict.  He did make the pass going into the straightaway but he had a lot of ground to cover.  He's not gonna have a lot of ground to get to the front if he does that in Maryland.

However, if he wins the Preakness, he'll take the Triple Crown.  If you noticed, just like Barbaro last year, no other horse was able to get to the front at the end.  Street Sense was the only one to pass Hard Spun.

  5. I think so. Because I think there will be a Triple Crown winner this year. I thought Curlin would go onto win the Derby and Triple Crown. But i have that feeling that the Derby winner would win the crown so... I believe that Street Sense will win the Triple Crown.

  6. I agree with Leslie, this was a great race and a great day for racing.

HOWEVER, let's not get too optimistic over Street Sense.

Bear in mind, they aren't machines, and although Clavin Borel had a good feel for the track,( having won many races yesterday), it may all change in two weeks.

If Curlin gets a better start, he will be a force to reckon with.

And then in five weeks, the grueling Belmont could be a whole different ballgame, altogether.

I credit the ground saving ride by Calvin Borel that gave this horse that wonderful closing edge.

I once gave instructions to a jockey to save ground by hugging the rail, and he listended, and my horse won like Street Sense did today.

Not easy to do for all jockeys because with a big field of horses, they are literally risking their lives should something go wrong.
