Will Talladega be another rained out, postponed or delayed race?

I live in Alabama (about 5 hours from Talladega) and there is a 40% chance of rain here for both Sat. and Sun. Up there near Talladega the chance of rain is 50% for both Sat. and Sun. So, the odds are even of the weekend being rained out.

I'm leaving bright and early in the morning for my drive up there, and I'm really hoping that it's not going to be another weekend of rain coming and going and NASCAR saying the race will start at this time, and then at that time they postpone it again. Just hope it's not Fontana all over again, especially since I'll be there... not at home watching it on tv.

Anyone else heard anything about any possible bad weather at Talladega this weekend?

Greetings from a fellow Alabamian!  I live in LA (Lower Alabama) and am also a racing fan, along with my 8-year-old son, who is quite a weather buff as well (I also have two other kids).  The forecast for Talladega on weather.com is 60% rain on Saturday and 40% on Sunday, so it's more likely the Sprint Cup race will be completed.  The forecast was for isolated thunderstorms, but as anyone from Alabama knows, if that thunderstorm is over you it doesn't matter how "isolated" it is.  I have not seen any mention of possible sever weather, which is a good sign.  The temperature is cooling off after the weekend, so there is obviously a front coming through, which is triggering the possibility of storms.  I looked at the national radar (intellicast.com) and the rain is currently in the Midwest.

The bottom line is that it looks iffy this weekend.  I hope the weather holds off and you get to see all the racing you planned on.  I went to Talladega twice when I was growing up in the 70s.  What an experience!  I hope to take my son there someday.

By the way, I'm a Jeff Gordon fan and my son roots for Matt Kenseth.
