I dont know about you but i cant see this happening in the near future.

But in the long term the AFL must bring in a team from Tasmania.

  1. Maybe one day, Hawks or Saints might relocate down there.

  2. Well some good footballers have come out of Tassie and it would be nice for them to have a team of their own and if they do they could call them "The Devils" and then The Devils could play "The Demons".

  3. Hawthorn should move there ala Sydney Swans, formerly South Melbourne

  4. i thought the hawks had already relocated down there

  5. No, there's just not enough money there. The best they can hope for is to adopt a team like Hawthorn and have a few games played there each season.

  6. No.

The AFL is besotted with the power of the mighty dollar - nothing else.

  7. i am from Tassie, but i cant see Tassie geting a afl, even though Tassie gets better crowds then the Gold Coast , and also do you really think that Sydney can support two teams in the AFL, i cant see it

it would be great to see Tassie get a AFL, but i would still stay a Bombers fan

  8. i think there SHOULD be, but it seems the afl has forgotten about tassie, and wants to concentrate on the gold coast and western sydney markets for the forseeable future.

  9. Nah. Not enough money or sponsors down there. As it is now they only get small crowds to the games they do play there.

  10. No. I can't see it happening.

Tassie has produced some great footballers & have even produced some very good results in old State matches but the truth of it is - there is not the money in the state to interest the AFL in locating a team there.

They'd much prefer to prop up further teams in NSW & Qld as they think they would be more viable in a shorter time frame than Tassie.

Plus there is the crowd number factor.

  11. when will the afl stop ripping thebest players from tassie?i wish afl tasmania had the guts to stop them.no wonder we have poor attendance at the local games

  12. Maybe in the not to distant future,

Tassie is a AFL "Stranglehold" they deserve there own team

every other state in Australia has a team in the AFL

Hawthorn see the potential in Tassie and the AFL will one day wake up to themselves and put a team there

I reckon they would be a welcome edition to the AFL

  13. I hope they get a team in.. it seems abit sad that they don't. I hear the AFL want to have two more teams..in NSW and QLD. perhaps after that they'll realise that there are two states that have NO teams.lol

    x

  14. Its stupid cos they always talked about the distance travelled- when its further to go from perth to brisbane, so i reckon they could probably, but they'll be putting the new teams in qld and nsw first.  One things for sure, there will never be a team in Darwin

  15. I have read the answers and i must say some are good, some are plain dumb, it does not matter that tassie has produced good footballers, there is a draft in place.

i think they should have a team, way before the gold coast and western Sydney, that new Sydney mob, that is a joke, how the AFL think they have got this right is beyond me, the Sydney people hate our game, full stop, Tasmanians love our game, so, put a bloody team there, the afl will cover those two sides losses for years, tassie deserve a side.
