Will They Stop making DVDs like they did VHS will it only be BluRay Disc?

    i think that DVD's and BluRay will both still be here, until they make something else to replace them both that is...


  2. They don't make things that don't sell.

    The sales of VHS tapes dropped to the point where most of the film distributers decided not to make them anymore.. there was no single event that said "VHS is dead"... basically, consumers just moved on to DVD, and eventually the media companies caught on.

    So the same thing could happen with Blu-Ray vs. DVD. But only happen if everyone out there buys only Blu-Ray and no more DVDs. So sure, in 20 years, could be.

    But unlike VHS to DVD, every Blu-Ray player is also a DVD player, so there's no requirement to buy Blu-Ray in every case. Most households today have multiple DVD players: portables, in the car, in your PC, etc. It'll take a very long time to replace all these with Blu-Ray, and most users will wait until Blu-Ray players and drives are very cheap... keep in mind DVD players were $1000 each once.
