After the four regular rounds, Bjorn was tied with four other players. The players were George Coetzee, Pablo Larrazabal, Bernd Wiesberger and Mark Foster.
The five players headed into the playoffs. The eighteenth hole, which was par five, was played five times and finally Thomas Bjorn emerged as the champion.
This year Bjorn will be looking to defend his title against the best golfers in the world. He has proven himself many times and has been able to impress the fans on numerous occasions. He always is a top contender in any tournament he participates.
There is going to be some extra pressure at the Johnnie Walker Championship, as it will be the last tournament before the qualification of the Ryder Cup.
Recently there has been a great deal of debate about the player’s form. He is being criticized and is thought to be losing his form. This is a good chance for the 41-year-old to answer his critics once and for all.
Bjorn has not been able to bag any major titles till now. The closest he has been to winning a major was when he was tied second in the years 2000 and 2003 - both times, in the Open Championship.
He has also managed a tied second position in the PGA Championship in the year 2005.
The Danish player turned professional in the year 1993 and till now he has been able to bag 19 professional wins. Out of these 19 wins, 13 came from the European Tour, 2 from the Japan Tour and 4 came from the Challenge Tour.
