  1. Why should he, he'd be walking away from a lot of money, would you do that?


  2. He might test the free agent market and then again not.

    He seems to be at the end of the road, however, and if I were Todd Helton, yes, I would retire at the end of this season.

  5. I think he will retire next year. If they make it to the playoffs this year magically he probably will. He is a future hall of famer.

  6. Helton is under contract through 2011 ($16.6M for 2009-10, $19.1M in 2011), so he'll likely stick around to collect on that.

    The Rockies hold an option on him for 2012 at $23M or a buyout of $4.6M, and the buyout seems highly likely.

    Retire, or collect another $56.9 million? It's a tough choice.
