Will U.S. appliances rated 110-115volts work in Brazil's 127 volt outlets? .?

Our beachhouse in Brazil has both 127 volt and 220 volt outlets. I know the 220 is not for most U.S. appliances unless they are 220 like a refridgerator or stove, but I think the 127 volt outlets are on the same 60 cycles as in the U.S. Can I safely use my U.S. appliances like a computer or TV in these with a simple plug converter? Does anyone know this? Are any of you using U.S. appliances in Brazil? Is there a web-site that has this information? Any help would be appreciated. Don

  1. There's no any risk to your computer, stove or any other eletronics that works at 110 volts.

  2. Since you do have 127v service, there would be no problem using US appliances.

  3. Generaly Brazil is 110V, in some hotels I saw they  have 220V too, in this case ask for a "transformador", but don't worry about 127V, it's all either 110V or 220V, but as I said 90% is 110V.

  4. Yes, they will work. You might need an adapter, since the outlets have only two round plugs.  The 220v there are used only for air conditioners, washing machines, etc.

It is a good idea to buy a good surge protection adapter to use with your computer hardware. Summer storms are frequent and often cause blackouts and possible power surges.

  5. There is no problem

Also you can read more information on :

ELECTRICITY: This can vary by the city you are visiting, for example; Rio and Sao Paulo 110 volts AC, 60Hz, in Bahia (Salvador) and Manaus 127 volts AC, in Brasilia and Recife 220 volts AC, 60Hz. So ask at the hotel so you don't ruin your shaver or hairdryer. Most hotels do provide 110-volt & 220-volt outlets, but again, ask so you may avoid smoke and electrical sparks in your room
