Will USPS hold your mail if you don't have a mailbox?

just moved and forwarded mail, but realized that my unit does not have it's own mailbox. Finally got one, but forwarding started about a week ago. Where is all my stuff???

  1. Your mail would have been held for 10 days. Get to your PO and let them know that you are living there. Your mail should be at the PO waiting for some instruction. After 10 days, it will be returned to sender.


  2. Go to the Post Office and ask an employee if they are holding any mail for you.

  3. USPS will only hold your mail if you told them to - if they tried to deliver it and there was no mailbox there is a good chance the USPS marked it as undeliverable.

    But, forwarding may have provided enough of a buffer - it takes time to reroute your mail to you.  This is especially true if you moved far away from your last residence.

    To be safe, call your credit card and auto loan companies etc and ask if they have sent a bill recently.

    Then try leaving a note on your mailbox for your postal delivery person.
