  1. Call them and find out, their number is usually listed in the phone book under government offices, I believe, or just got to:

    http://www.usps.gov (.com?)

    Hope this helps.

  2. I'm responding pretty late on Christmas Eve, and I don't know where you are, but here in Boston, I worked a full day today as a driver delivering relays to letter carriers and packages to homes.  Our retail front however (where you buy stamps and mail out packages) closed early.

Tomorrow, Christmas Day, all regular postal services will be suspended for the holiday, but next day express mail (both envelopes and packages) will still go out, unless the destination itself is closed, like most businesses, offices, hospitals (the hospitals will be open, but not the receiving offices), and so on.  This happens every single day, Sundays included.  Again, depending on where you live, parcels might also go out tomorrow--but you definitely won't get regular mail (bills, cards, magazines, etc.).

Finally, if you live in the Boston area, the main office in our area, the Fort Point station near the South Station train/T stop, is open 24/7/365, so you could go there right now if you really really had to get something out posthaste.

I hope this helps, and Merry Christmas.
