Will Union Pacific be merging?????

Question

Rumors have been flying about Union Pacific merging with CSX Transportation.

Here is how I see the Mergers

UP+KCS+CSX=UP

BNSF+NS=BNSF

Where did you hear that?   I've not heard anything like that, and I have been working for UP in the Kansas City area.  I'm not saying you are lying, but that is a big one.  Isn't CSX the 2nd or 3rd biggest railroad, behind UP, and maybe BNSF?  That would be an interesting merger.

Sheesh i hope not.The last one was a disaster for about 2 years.Still is a disaster as far as having to work for them.Never seen a bigger bunch of arrogant pr***s in my entire life.I love railroading but i'm glad i'm winding down my career.The Southern Pacific was a much nicer company to work for.

As a note for all  the guys that have emailed me and asked  about careers on the railroad just ignore me lol.I'm just griping because i know how it used to be.Nowadays all big corporations are the way the UP is.

Maybe, but those rumors have been flying for years now, so I wouldn't put too much stock into it.  My guess would be that it will be several years yet before the mega-merger movement takes hold again (also don't forget Canadian National and Canadian Pacific, they will very likely play a role in the next round).

I doubt it

but never rule it out

over the years I've learned that 90% of rumors never happen.

If I had a nickel for every rumor I heard the last 30 years that didnt prove true I could retire, or at least lay off a trip.

KCS may be the odd man out. If it does happen it will be after the merger with the CSX.
