Question:

Will Vista still run this for me? ?

I'm saving up to buy the HP Touchsmart IQ504 in a couple of months. Before I do, I want to make sure that Vista will run all my programs.

First things first, do you strongly NOT recommend this computer? Any reasons why?

Second of all, will Vista run:

Aim 6.8?

Mozilla Firefox?

Winamp?

And anything else I should know about Vista or the Touchsmart in general.

Thanks!

  1. probably not =/

  2. it will run most softwares with no problems, there is also a compatibility mode for really old software.

  3. Yes all of those programs will work on Vista.

I do not use AIM so I can not confirm this for you, but the requirements are "Windows 2000 or higher" meaning ... Vista should work.

Firefox 3 was actually designed with Vista in mind, I mean look at the design of it.

Winamp, while not Vista certified yet, does work, with some minor bugs.  The Winamp team is due to release a new version though which will surely be Vista certified.

  4. Vista is a Pain to have to Deal with.

My Brother DownGraded to XP Pro, just because of how Annoyed he was over Vista.

I Personally don't like Vista, just because of how it Takes a F*cking FAST Computer, and Turns it into an 'All Show, and little GO' Machine.

Do you Know how much Faster a Machine with 2GB RAM, Dual-Core Processor, a $150 Video Card, and a SATA Hard Drive runs with XP Pro?!? And Try Gaming with Vista!! :O What a Disappiontment!! :P

DownGrading to XP is actually like Suping-Up a PC!! It just Takes that Old f**t outta the Machine, and lets it FLY like the Wind!! :D

  5. Looks like the computer will be fine for Vista.

Second this programs are not that processor intensive so you will be fine.

  6. probably yes. firefox and aim definitely and probably winamp.

  7. I would recommend buying a computer from a smaller store. Best thing about brand name computers is the finance, and laptops

  8. hi.. in my experience, firefox is a joke. vista will have its own anti programs that firefox will have . so its like putting two of the same and a conflict happens. with vista just get the windows onecare in place of firefox. or better yet, pctools.com for your antivirus and spyware will out perform both.  aim and winamp will work with vista but go to their website and check for updates that you will need for vista. enjoy.
