The Wings have brought Vladimir on the ice to hold the Cup the last two times they won it (both after the accedent).

So,

1) Will he be there with the Wings this year for game 4 if the Wings win game 3 ?

2) Will Penguin fans cheer him, or at least NOT boo him and understand why he is there ?

3) Would the Pen orginazation understand, and have enough class to help make it happen ?

  1. Who really cares.  It isn't necessary.  Its great if he could be there, but he doesn't need all the sympathy c**p anymore.

Now don't get this the wrong way.  He was my absolute favorite player before he got hurt, I used to wear his jersey EVERY day.  Sure he is still part of the Red Wing family, but the reality is that this happened 11 years ago.  Gordie Howe was a Detroit great, but he doesn't go and carry the Cup on the ice with the players.  He probably would have been retired by now anyway.  I can't even see Yzerman on the ice carrying the Cup.  Maybe he would, but I doubt it.

'98 was the exception, because it was a huge emotional season for them.  He belonged there in '98.  Not anymore.  Sorry, but I am still one of his biggest fans.

  2. 1. would be nice

    2. would be nice if they cheer

    3. yes

  3. 1.) hopefully!

2.) remember back in the 98 series against the caps, he was in the crowd there and he stood up. all the fans cheered and the players on both teams hit their sticks on the ice. so i have confidence they would do the same.

3.)we can only hope, but i would assume they would.

  4. That would be really cool.  I hope so.

  5. He may well be there, but they won't bring him on the ice. He is a part of the old team, not this one. It has been over a decade. Vlady will have to hang out with Stevie Y and the others suits and let the players have their own moment.

  6. 1)  It's possible.  He's been hanging around the dressing room in Detroit throughout the playoffs.

    2)  Good question

    3)  Every organization in the NHL understands, and has the class to make it happen.  Just about every player/coach etc understands that what happened to Konstantinov could easily have happened to them.  This was a tragedy (as well as the death of Steve Chiasson a short time later) that has had an impact on the entire NHL as most teams have gone out and hired outside limo/taxi services to ensure that their players get home safely.

  7. Oh I'm sure he will be.  Even though he can't play, he is HUGE part of the team and the Wings wouldn't have it any other way.  Of course he will be there!

    Go Wings!
