Some one was using my computer recently and i got the virus that makes believe you got infected and its a windows defender or something and add p**n and stuff like that with a lot of popups and the works

im trying to do a windows system restore because that worked with other probelms but i am not sure that it will completley remove it as it might be saved under the hood somewhere

i am going to do a full virus scan after but does anyone know for sure if this virus is removable that way

  1. Yes, that is a good way to make sure the virus is gone, the method you used is a good one. So the answers to your question is yes.

  2. pop ups are coming from a command that the virus planted in your registry...u can't use restore to reverse any registry or system 32 files

  3. Try to do a virus scan first because it's might be just a simple removal. System restore might not clean the virus if you have multiple drives. It simply reformat your OS drive (usually C drive) and install the OS. All of your other drives will still be there unless you choose to delete all partitions.

  4. i think that the only true way to get rid of this kind of virus is to do a format and start all over again you lose your file but look on the bright side its like having a new pc leason to learn dont let others use your pc good luck

  5. Your computer seems to be infected with an adware. Such programs are generally trojans and place files in many places. Even though system restore removes the infection from system files and folders, the trojan in other places like "My Documents" [which are not touched by restore] will reinstall it in the system.

So the best solution I can give is install Spybot-Search&Destroy, update its definitions and run a scan on your computer. It scans for adwares, spyware and trojans and eliminates them using its secure shredder, thereby preventing their return. It is a freeware, compatible with many antivirus programs, lite on memory and better than most of the paid versions.
