Will XC my 800m time?

in my freshmen year i hit a 2:35 now im trying to do Xc will it help my time alot

  1. Depends how much you train but I would guess you could drop your time to sub-2:20 for and 800m. Cross country is a great way to get in shape and keep dropping times for track!


  2. You are doing the right thing. Any kind of sport will ultimately help you in track, especially one that involves the same motion (running) even if it is longer distances. Just make sure you also train over the winter as well so as to not lose the xc shape.

    If you need another reason why its good...look at almost every successful 800 runner and they all run cross. It is obvious that the 1600 and 3200 runners run cross, but the 800 is still distance and cross helps for that as well. I would guess that when you look at the 400m. run, many of those kids do not run cross, but the 800 guys do.
