I have a 1985 BMW 325 E. The car is very hard to start sometimes. I just had the automatic transmission changed the other day. The car started briefly after the transmission was changed but has since stopped running. The mechanic said the car was not getting any fire. He did not have the proper equipment to check the car system but he believes the distributor is bad. A salvage yard told me they have a distributor from a manuel 1987 BMW 325E. Will this fit my automatic 1985 BMW 325E.

  1. yes as long as it is the same size motor

  2. i would say as long as same size motor the year shouldn't matter.

  3. the problem is that the installer of the transmission either broke the ignition timing tang that sticks out of the flywheel, the ignition pickups were reversed when installed, the pickup sensors connectors broke, the pickup sensors got smacked and dented  or all of the above.  The car really does not have a distributor its just a cap and rotor.

  4. It will fit fine but they never go bad- it always another problem.
