  1. I'm 99% sure the answer is no,

most certainly the mounts will be different so you'll have to fab a bunch of hangers and pray they hold. The chain will probably come out at a different height and I know they did a redesign between mine and yours but the chain is pretty d**n tight against the front of the swingarm for me, and I don't think it could move much (I realize if you have a drag bike you probably have and extended swingarm anyhow)

beyond that you'll need new engine components as well because the mounting and seals for all that will have changed, like the water pump for example.

if I were you I'd think of it like this, an engine is simply cylinders in a block, everything else is just accessories, so your pistons and the brand new ones are relatively the same size, so why can't your engine be as powerful as the new ones, given the right accessories?

Basically I'd tear your engine out, completely rebuild it, clean it all out, new injectors, cams, rollers, springs, lines, intake, filters, pistons, everything and I mean everything with the newest high performance stuff. The GSX-R should be able to handle the increase in power structurally as is.

after all thats done you'll have spent somewhere around 5 grand and you'll have a great sleeper (personally I think sleepers are more for the car world... unless you want to throw a busa engine in a 250 R, that'd be sick!). So you can either do it that way, or sell your bike and buy an 08' with all that stuff in there already...

I'd tell you it's time for a new bike, but if it's a sleeper you really want, be prepared to pay for it, and no, I don't think an engine swap will work for you.

  2. It should fit with little problems. I think the biggest issue will be your wiring and bolt on pieces to the block.
