Question:

Will a 235 chevy engine fit straight in to replace a 216 chevy enigne?

i've got a 216 chev engine that has a cracked block, do you know how this would fit in place of her regarding the engine mount locations. and also would my bell housing fit, so i can still use my 3 speed and enclosed tail shaft. any info would be appreciated

  1. it should but i cant say for certain.  you may want to try to find a straight 6 forum that way the 350 loving mouth breathers dont give you some bad scoop.

  2. Those older engines and transmissions about all matched up. I worked with a little new stuff a 79 Chevy and I had a 350, 454 and 6.2 diesel in it and the same bellhousing worked on all 3 and the motor mounts were all in the same place. I had to make a transmission mount.
