Everyone says how great HDTVs are and how massive the graphical improvements are for the PS3 on one...but is it true? Will there be a large difference between a 576i and a 720p tv?

  1. Going from "i" to "p" alone will make a pretty big difference as the picture will seem more "solid".  Now throw in the fact that 720p is HD, which will give you access to any HD channels in your area or on your cable/satellite service.  Then there's the better resolution for DVD movies (if you use an upscaling DVD player) not to mention blu-ray (PS3 does both, excellently),

Get the 720p set.  HD is the future, and if you're buying a PS3, that's all the more reason.

  2. IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE TV NOT ALL HDTV"S ARE GOOD MY 15 YEAR OLD BIG SCREEN IS MUCH BETTER IMAGE THEN NEWER TVS...IF YOU WANT TRUE HD THEN USE A GOOD MONITOR AROUND 22" OR BIGGER.BUT GET A TV/MONITOR

  3. The difference may be noticeable, but not "night and day". The resolution difference is about 20%, and you also may gain a bit from the picture being progressive vs interlaced, but assuming the TV deinterlaces correctly that's not going to make much (if any) difference (if it doesn't it will make for a bit of jaggedness when there is fast motion. But note that many LCD displays doen't like fast motion due to slow response times ... so that MAY be a positive for your current TV)).  Finally, at 32" (unless you are sitting closer than about 2.2 m you won't see the resolution difference anyway.

I don't think it would be worth the cost of upgrading if your current TV is in good shape ... but only you can decide for you.  If unsure, can you try it out before deciding?  It's always better to have objective evidence rather than theory!

  4. Try it before you buy it.
