  1. from my experience the amp will shut off, (most amps have a safety feature to shut itself down before damage occurs), before blowing the speaker. if the speaker were a dvc you could wire the voice coils in series to get an 8 ohm load. therefore matching sub with amp.


  2. MOST amps are good 4 to 16 ohms. You should never go lower than 4 ohms, the amp will over heat. You will get lower output at 16 ohms.
