Will a British land line phone plug into a Magic Jack?

I ask because I'm not sure whether to take a phone with me to the UK to use with my MJ or just buy a phone in Wales.

I suggest taking a phone with you.  That way you'll know it will work instead of getting to the UK and then finding out that the local phones are just different enough not to work with the MJ.  The hassle getting a phone from the States after you find you have a problem (and you'll have to make those calls WITHOUT the MJ) can't be worth the effort saved from not taking a phone along.

I just purchased several mini flip-phones from e-bay and send it abroad for my family for that purpose....! Its especially made to use with the MJ when you use it to travel abroad and don't wanna take a big bulky analog phone with you!!
