Question:

Will a CD dry on its own?

I just cleaned a couple of game discs with a special game disc/cd/dvd cleaning solution with a soft cloth. It says to use the dry part of the cloth after you've cleaned it with the solution, but I didn't have any dry part of the cloth because I did a thorough job cleaning it with the solution. Will it dry on its own if I give it some time? Shoul I leave out the game discs or is it safe to put them back in their respective cases?

  1. Most disc cleaning solutions contain Isopropyl Alcohol.

Isopropyl alcohol is produced by combining water and propylene, this will evaporate on its own, in fact your CD's are probably either dry or very nearly so by now.

It shouldn't leave any residue behind, but your cloth will be dry as well soon, so you could just wipe it around to make sure.

    Have fun gaming.

  2. It ought to dry on its own. The stuff evaporates... But I've never used a CD cleaner, so it may leave some residue that you're supposed to take off.

  3. Dry them off, then put them in their cases, letting them air dry could leave spots or marks.

  4. I would leave them out for a little bit, but they should be safe to return to their respective cases.
