Question:

Will a Chevy Volt save me money, in the long term?

I'm thinking of buying a Chevy Volt in a couple of years, found it costs $30,000, vs. $18,000 for an economy car. Big difference there, but will I save enough in fuel to make up for this? (I drive 12,000km/A, or 8,000/A, assume gas prices stay the same - now pay $25/week for gas.)

  1. Chevy Volt is still not for sale.  Currently it is concept car - scheduled for 2010.

Unless they have exact price and how much miles it can go, etc. the point is moot.

But assuming that difference of $12K and you divide that by 25/week (which does NOT account for cost of electricity), it would take 480 weeks (or about 9. 23 years) to recover the extra $12K cost.  But if you account for the electricity cost, the recover period is even longer.

But again because we don't know the exact price of the car, cost of electricity per mile, and cost of gas at that point, the point is moot (academic).

    Good luck...

  2. NO

  3. For a difference of 12,000 dollars.  Let's assume 4 dollars a gallon, that will buy 3,000 gallons of gas.  Depending on your economy rating with your car, that will take you quite a few miles.

Now, the volt is a hybrid that uses gasoline along with batteries, so how many gallons of fuel will get you how many miles?

Generally speaking, no, it would take you over 10 years to reach the break even point, and the average life of the car is 10 years and who knows how long the batteries will last or what the cost will be to replace them.

  4. yes may save a little bit of money

but if the car have any problem

MAN YOU ARE DONE!! cost you a lot to fix

since chevy is not a good car to have

and bettery technology is still an issue

so over all is the same

pay more for the car than pay a bit less for gas and than pay more for repair!!!

    NOT GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. it's not a big deal my friend.

FIrst, Chevy just show this Volt few months.I think so.

THen, YOu can not know what will happen with a very new car.

I mean, It's look like a new generation for automobile.

Then, YOU never know may it have any problems?

YOu know, the first one never a good one. anything always like that. right?hihi

If you really need it. just wait a year to make sure any consumer report told it's a good car.

or, YOu can get an hybrid car.

    I dont think it's a good choice.

My friend she has one. a toyota Prius.it's a nice car.

but, It's so weak for me.hihi. I'm driving TSX.and I think gas is not my problem. Think carefully when you want to get it.

Hope I can help you with my answer.

    nice day friend.
