Will a Direct T V Box work

Question

I plan on getting Direct T V , I have a box that was given to me that is a Direct T V box, will it work are do they have to activate it?

you will probably be better off just getting new equipment, which is free with activation, free installation, up to four rooms

you will need a clear view of the southern sky, southwest if you are east of the mississippi river, southeast if you are west of the mississippi

depending on the age of the box, older ones limit the content...they include a card that must be activated, or will provide you a new one.  You should call them directly.  Also....you do know you have to have the dish to receive the signal...they are complicated too and you must have mulitple LNB for multiple rooms.

You will need a clear view of the southwest sky.  Make sure you do before you part with any cash.

I love my DTV, btw.  13 year user.

your going to get up to 4 new boxes for free anyways, dont mess with the old one unless you want service in another room, but be preparded to pay extra to have it installed, and if the previous owner of said box owes directv any $$ , they will not activate it
